Since he was drafted by the Dallas Cowboys in the first round of the 2021 NFL Draft, linebacker Micah Parsons has become one of the most dominant pass rushers in the entire league. But it sounds like he’s going to be making a significant change to his game.

This week, Micah Parsons announced that he will no longer be focusing on his sack total as he heads into his third season in the league. Instead, he’ll simply be focusing on his overall impact on the defensive side of the football.

“I’m kinda off the sack wave. I’m onto the impact wave,” Parsons said according Michael Gehlken of the Dallas Morning News. “You see Aaron Donald. He can have 12 sacks, but the impact he makes is so dominant. You can tell. I really just want to be dominant. And then you see guys who have 16-17 sacks, but they’re not considered a guy. I want to be a guy, not one of the guys. You feel me? . . . I’m not chasing for something. I’m trying to achieve and be greater than someone who is chasing.”

It’s a big change in mentality for a player who has made a strong career out of getting to the quarterback, and the NFL world had plenty to say about it on Twitter.

We will have to see how this change works out for him in the future.
