After a 47-9 beatdown at the hands of the Detroit Lions in Week 6, has the time come for the Dallas Cowboys to trade one of their top stars?

Colin Cowherd thinks it’s worth considering anyway.

Cowherd and John Middlekauff discussed the possibility of the Cowboys trading the three-time All-Pro edge rusher on The Colin Cowherd Podcast following Sunday’s loss. The idea of trading three-time All-Pro edge rusher Micah Parsons was discussed.

“This will sound crazy. They’ve already paid Dak (Prescott) and CeeDee (Lamb). Would you consider, to get draft capital? You’d get a first-round pick for Micah,” Cowherd noted.

“You’d get more than that,” Middlekauff replied. “I’ve had people ask me, Cowboy fans, ‘Should we just do this? What’s the point? Our defense isn’t even close. Why wouldn’t we just start over?'”

The Cowboys have some time to figure this out, as the trade deadline isn’t until Nov. 5, after Week 9. Dallas only has two games in that stretch, however, as the Cowboys have a Week 7 bye. They’ll return to the field in Week 8 for a road game against the San Francisco 49ers and will host the Atlanta Falcons in Week 9.

Parsons, a first-round pick in 2021, is in his fourth season. The Cowboys have already picked up his $21.3 million option for the 2025 season. He’s also missed the last two games with an ankle injury. Dallas has gone 1-1 in his absence, beating the Pittsburgh Steelers 20-17 in Week 5 before the loss to the Lions in Week 6.
