The Green Bay Packers raised eyebrows around the NFL when they traded with the Dallas Cowboys for star pass rusher Micah Parsons, following a very contentious contract dispute between Parsons and Cowboys owner and general manager Jerry Jones.
Unfortunately, as talented as Parsons is, the best ability is availability, and now there have been some very concerning developments on the injury front for Parsons, according to one prominent league insider.
“Packers LB Micah Parsons has been dealing with an L4/L5 facet joint sprain in his back and he may take an epidural injection prior to Sunday’s game vs. the Lions if needed to help him play, per sources. Before trading Parsons last week, the Cowboys prescribed him a five-day plan of an anti-Inflammatory corticosteroid, a prednisone to help him recover from back tightness. They also had him on a physical therapy program. Parsons has been practicing this week and he is trying to play in Sunday’s opener vs. the Lions, though one source said it still is uncertain if he will,” ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported on Monday.
Fans reacted to the news on social media.
“I didn’t even get an epidural either time I had a baby. Typical Packer,” one mother wrote on Twitter.
“Hahahahaha yea man Jerry totally didn’t know. Once again a Dallas GM completely fleeces one of the staples of the league for damaged goods,” someone else added.
“You don’t want to mess with a back injury, man. That’s life-altering. I’d consider retirement. There’s life after football, Micah. Think of future you,” CBS’s Tom Fornelli added.
Hopefully, Parsons can make a total recovery and continue his dominant career.
