Mike Evans and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers appear poised to come together for a contract extension. The veteran receiver is entering the last year of the five-year deal he signed in 2018. So instead of letting him hit the open market, the Bucs hope to lock him in for his third contract with the team.

Longtime Tampa Bay reporter Rick Stroud of TampaBay.com reported the news of Evans’ contract talks. “Bucs, wide receiver Mike Evans talking about third contract,” Stroud tweeted and wrote.

Stroud wrote in the article, “It’s time for Evans to receive his third contract from the Bucs.” He then indulged that “those talks have already begun, and there is a willingness on both sides to get something done this summer.”

Through nine seasons, Evans has earned $95,862,362. In 2023, he will earn $14.5 million, which will see his career earnings balloon up to $110,362,362. It sure sounds like he’s going to be raking even more money in once he and the Bucs agree to terms.

Evans has recorded 1,000+ yards in each of his nine seasons in the NFL. The former first-rounder leads the Bucs’ all-time receiving marks in receptions (683), yards (10,425), touchdowns (81), and yards/game (76.1).

Obviously, the big news got a lot of people talking on Saturday. The NFL world reacted to the news about the Bucs’ star receiver.
