For most of the season, it looked like the Pittsburgh Steelers were headed toward a very disappointing year as the team lost seven of its first 10 games and looked more like team that would be contending for the No. 1 overall pick than a team that would be contending for a playoff spot. But even though the Steelers did ultimately miss the playoffs, they finished the year strong and preserved an insane streak for head coach Mike Tomlin.

As NFL reporter Ari Meirov points out, the Steelers won six of their last seven games to reassert themselves into the playoff race. And even though they didn’t make the playoffs, Mike Tomlin finished the season with a winning record for the 16th consecutive time and has still never had a losing record as a head coach.

“The #Steelers are now officially eliminated from playoff contention. They finish the year 9-8, winning six of their last seven games. Mike Tomlin has still never had a losing-season in his 16-year head coaching career,” Meirov said in a Tweet on Sunday afternoon.

It’s an insane stat, and the NFL world had plenty to say about it on Twitter.

“I don’t know if this can be appreciated how goated Tomlin is,” one fan said on Twitter.

“Never had a losing season. That’s saying something,” another fan said on Twitter.

“This is just astonishing for Tomlin,” another fan said on Twitter.

“If you was a steeler fan screaming fire tomlin you owe him an apology,” a fan said on Twitter.

Against all odds, Tomlin kept the streak alive this year. We’ll have to see if he can do it again next season.
