The New York Jets are in need of a new offensive coordinator, but fans are not too happy about the latest candidate to emerge for that position.

According to a report from Dianna Russini of ESPN, the jets are meeting with fired Denver Broncos head coach Nathaniel Hackett for the position.

“The New York Jets are currently meeting with former Denver Broncos head coach Nathaniel Hackett for their offensive coordinator position, per sources,” Russini said in a tweet.

Hackett, of course, was the head coach of the Broncos this season, who had the worst scoring offense in the entire NFL this season.

Based on the reaction from the NFL world on Twitter, it’s safe to say that this move was not exactly popular.

“Good thing he’s just one of the what feels like 17 that they have interviewed already,” Mike Sautter of Hurrdat sports said in a tweet.

The only way you hire Nathaniel Hackett as OC is if he brings Aaron Rodgers with him which is not happening… #Jets,” Jake Asman of ESPN said in a tweet.

“‘What if we replace the guy we just let walk with almost the same guy, except coming off a humiliating failure?'” joked Mike Tanier of Football Outsiders on Twitter.

“The Jets beat the Broncos 16-9 in October and they were like yeah we need some of that in our organization,” Stephen Serda of SBNation said in a tweet.

“If the Jets hire Hackett as their OC, will be betting every Jets team total under next season,” NFL betting analyst Tom Vecchio of Draft Kings said in a tweet.

It’s safe to say that it’s a pretty unpopular move to even interview Hackett for the team’s open coordinator position. We can only imagine the reaction if the Jets actually hired him.
