The New England Patriots will probably go about as far as Mac Jones will take them in 2022. If a report from Tuesday’s team practice is any indication, that might not be very far.
“Man, this is bad. The most troublesome offensive practice of summer,” Patriots reporter Andrew Callahan tweeted Tuesday from practice. “Jones 7/17 after his 2-minute drill ends in an INT.”
Callahan then outlined a series of plays as part of the two-minute drill, including two incomplete and an interception to kill the drive. That came on the heels of the previous 11-on-11 drills that includes three incomplete passes from Jones, as well as an inept run offense that garnered just one positive outcome in five rushing attempts.

It’s the latest in a long line of reports about offensive issues for the Patriots.
Patriots fans are already a bit concerned heading into the season given all the secrecy surrounding who is running the offense. But if the offense itself is performing this poorly, clearly something isn’t working.
Tuesday’s practice report certainly garnered some strong reactions from around the NFL world.

Almost like they have a defensive coordinator running the offense. https://t.co/xjyIaG7k21

Ultimately, I believe the Patriots offense will be fine, but I don't think I've read a positive practice report from them https://t.co/NrPEMCywGZ

Kendrick Bourne might be onto something. https://t.co/QpueDhHN3p

Maybe it's time for the Patriots to give Jakobi Meyers a shot at QB https://t.co/065W95MrcU

The Pats' offense has sounded like a complete dumpster fire all summer https://t.co/X8HXVdgflH

Of course, you always bet against Bill Belichick at your own risk, but there hasn’t been much to get excited about when it comes to the Patriots’ offense this season so far, and if there are more reports like this it’s only going to get worse.
