New Orleans Saints franchise running back Alvin Kamara is trying to put his legal troubles behind him before the season begins.
TMZ Sports reports that Kamara has “cut a deal” with Las Vegas prosecutors over a vicious assault on a man named Darnell Grene that occurred at the Cromwell Hotel and Casino in February 2022.
As part of the deal, Kamara will plead “no contest” to a misdemeanor breach of peace and perform 30 hours of community service, pay a $500 fine and pay another $105,196.17 to Greene.
Also included in the deal, per TMZ, prosecutors agreed to drop the charges of felony battery and misdemeanor conspiracy to commit battery with which they charged him following the incident.
Kamara also closed his civil case with Greene on Wednesday.
“Please accept my sincere apologies for the events of February 5, 2022 in Las Vegas,” Kamara wrote in a letter to the victim, per his lawyer, Tony Buzbee.
“I am happy that we were able to get on the other side of this unfortunate incident, and I wish you the best for the future,” the running back wrote.
Buzbee added that the two sides “settled on confidential terms” while adding that Kamara signed the public mea culpa as part of the deal.
