The New York Giants have found themselves at a crossroads. Daniel Jones, whom the Giants moved on from in the middle of last season, is 3-0 with the Indianapolis Colts, while the Giants fell to 0-3 after losing to the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday night.
Things are going so poorly in New York that head coach Brian Daboll is pulling the plug on the Russell Wilson experiment, after signing the veteran quarterback over the offseason. Now, rookie quarterback Jaxson Dart is set to take the reins.
However, Daboll is making it clear he doesn’t feel that Dart is ready, but is rolling with him regardless.
“I don’t think any rookie QB is ever just ready to play. You put him in there because you think that he’s done enough to show you that he can go out there and compete, and he’s done that every step of the way. That’s why I made the decision,” Daboll said, via Giants reporter Charlotte Carroll.
Fans reacted to the statement on social media.
“Daboll is unprofessional. No great head coach ever comes off as a fan boy for his QB even if they are great. Dart is a guy who was passed over in the first 24 picks in the draft. He’s basically a 2nd round or later QB and far from a sure thing,” one fan wrote on Twitter.
“That mfer ain’t going to survive with no running game or pass blockers or better wrs other than nabers but slayton okay,” someone else added.
“Translation: you put him in there because he’s the only thing between you and the unemployment line,” one fan added.
It’ll be interesting to see how the quaterback switch pans out for Daboll.
