Rookie quarterback Jaxson Dart has brought a breath of fresh air into the New York Giants’ organization. The Giants started 0-3 under veteran quarterback Russell Wilson, but Dart has led the team to upset victories over the Los Angeles Chargers and Philadelphia Eagles, and very nearly pulled off another upset against the New Orleans Saints.
Shockingly, Dart’s success is coming without the services of star receiver Malik Nabers, who went down with an ACL injury. The franchise was optimistic that Dart would have his top target back in time for the start of the 2026 season.
Unfortunately, some news has broken via one prominent insider around the league that has thrown Nabers’ recovery into doubt.
“Giants HC Brian Daboll said WR Malik Nabers has not yet undergone surgery for the torn ACL he suffered on September 29. Presumably the procedure will take place once the swelling subsides enough for surgery,” reported Ari Meirov on Thursday.
Fans reacted to the news on social media.
“This is why I’m still high on trading for Waddle, I’m assuming Malik won’t be ready for week 1 next year, and even if he is we’ll get him at like 75% as he works back to trusting his cuts. We need a 2 that can act like a 1 when needed,” one fan wrote on Twitter.
“I’ll start this by saying video is not diagnostic.. but based on Malik Nabers pain response plus 3+ weeks of likely unstable swelling, it suggests that he probably has meniscus and/or MCL damage impeding pre-op outcomes. Once it’s stable, he’ll likely be able to get surgery,” a doctor added.
“He may never be the same,” another fan added.
Hopefully, Nabers takes however long he needs to ensure he makes a full recovery.
