New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers appears to be settling into his new digs. He’s defending his coaches, hanging out with his (young) teammates, and apparently enjoying life in the big city.
Before announcing his intention to play with the Jets, however, Rodgers embarked on a “darkness retreat” while still a member of the Green Bay Packers.
The method shut Rodgers off from the outside world by leaving him in a dark room for several days with nothing but his thoughts. When he emerged, he had apparently decided to leave his longtime franchise that drafted him.
Speaking with NBC Sports’ Peter King, Rodgers blasted critics of his darkness retreat.
“Listen, a lot of the things that I’ve talked about that I’ve done, people don’t understand. I think there are too many people who are judgmental without being curious,” the quarterback told King. “I think a lot of those people who had derogatory things to say about it actually are the ones who might benefit the most from some of the things that I’ve done.”
For better or worse, Rodgers has shown a willingness to speak his mind on controversial subjects throughout his NFL career. That appears to be no different despite joining a new franchise.
