The New York Jets are not having the sort of year they imagined when they brought in former Detroit Lions defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn to be the head coach. Glenn came in and promptly informed four-time MVP winner Aaron Rodgers that his services would no longer be needed in New York as the starting quarterback, replacing him with Justin Fields.

Now, Rodgers has the Steelers sitting at first place in the AFC North, and the Jets are 3-11 on the season, battling it out for the number one pick in the 2026 NFL draft. Sunday saw the Jets get blown out in an absolutely embarrassing fashion, falling to the Jacksonville Jaguars 48-20.

Now, a major change is coming to Glenn’s coaching staff, according to one prominent league insider.

“Jets fired their defensive coordinator Steve Wilks,” ESPN’s senior NFL insider Adam Schefter reported on Monday.

Fans reacted to the news on social media.

“He was unequivocally the worst DC in football lol,” one fan wrote on Twitter.

“I like this move, he’s been so vanilla. No excuse to only force 4 turnovers all season,” someone else added.

“Firing a guy after you got rid of his two best players is diabolical,” one fan added.

It’ll be interesting to see if Glenn finds himself back on the job market soon as well.
