On Friday, a grand jury declined to indict Houston Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson with criminal charges related to the lawsuits filed against him by 22 women alleging sexual assault and harassment. While Watson still needs to deal with those 22 lawsuits in civil court, the criminal aspect of his ordeal is now behind him, which means his return to an NFL field next season is all but guaranteed.
While this doesn’t mean Watson has been found innocent, it does mean that the Houston Texans can proceed with plans to trade him. There’s no doubt they’ll be able to find a team willing to meet their very high demands and there are plenty of potential suitors already lining up.
Watson essentially announced his return to the NFL world on Friday with a tweet.
When you stand on the TRUTH, the LORD will FREE you! 🙏🏾

While he received plenty of negative feedback over it and the allegations against him, plenty of NFL players reacted positively to the news and retweeted him with messages of their own. Some of the players who commented included Derrius Guice, Darius Leonard, Kevin Byard, and Ish Hyman.
So happy for my guy!!! https://t.co/lFoXbxqeXA

Whatever you think of Watson, there’s certainly an NFL brotherhood that looks out for another and it’s not surprising to see a positive reaction from some current players. There are probably others out there who don’t hold him in such high regard or are concerned about the allegations, but they’re not as likely to put their feelings out in public just yet.
