The betting favorite to win the award is Patrick Mahomes. Mahomes have thrown for over 5,000 yards, and 41 touchdowns this season in leading the Chiefs to the AFC Championship game this upcoming Sunday.
The other favorite is Jalen Hurts. Hurts has used his arm and legs this season to lead the Eagles to the NFC Championship Game. Had Hurts not injured himself toward the end of the season, he might have won the award easily.
The surprise name on the list may be Justin Jefferson. Not because he didn’t have a great season but rarely does the MVP award go to a wide receiver. But if there was one wideout who made a huge impact on his team, it would be Jefferson.
Jefferson had over 1800 yards receiving and eight touchdowns for the Vikings, not to mention he made several spectacular catches in critical situations for the team throughout this season.
All five candidates are well deserving of this honor. The reigning MVP is, of course, Aaron Rodgers.
