Throughout the NFL season, we’ll be ranking the top-10 rookies in the league based on their progress. Here’s the breakdown following Week 3.
10. Arizona Cardinals WR Rondale Moore: He was quiet in Week 3, but the second-round pick still ranks second among rookies with 183 receiving yards through three games.
9. Baltimore Ravens edge Odafe Oweh: The first-round pick has been a force beyond the box score, but he also has a sack, four quarterback hits, and a forced fumble/fumble recovery under his belt.
8. Green Bay Packers C Josh Myers: The second-rounder has given up just four pressures in a penalty-free start to the season.
7. Los Angeles Chargers OT Rashawn Slater: The No. 13 overall pick isn’t responsible for a single sack, and he’s taken just one penalty on Justin Herbert’s blind side. He has the top pass-blocking grade among qualified rookies at Pro Football Focus.
6. Denver Broncos CB Patrick Surtain II: The No. 9 overall pick has surrendered completions on just 53.3 percent of the passes thrown his way. He also has a pick and a pass defensed.
5. Cleveland Browns CB Greg Newsome II: The No. 26 overall pick’s numbers are slightly better than Surtain’s, but he doesn’t have an interception yet. It’s a toss-up.
4. Kansas City Chiefs C Creed Humphrey: The second-round pick is the highest-rated qualified first-year interior offensive lineman in the league. He’s given up zero sacks and pressures.
3. Los Angeles Chargers CB Asante Samuel Jr.: Opposing quarterbacks have a mere 22.2 passer rating when throwing into Samuel’s coverage this season. The second-round selection also has two picks in three games.
2. Dallas Cowboys LB Micah Parsons: The No. 12 overall selection already has 1.5 sacks, six quarterback hits, 13 tackles, and two passes defensed under his belt.
1. Cincinnati Bengals WR Ja’Marr Chase: That’s three touchdowns in three games for the rookie leader in that category as well as receiving yards (220).
