The NFL world was sent in quite a stir on Sunday afternoon when Los Angeles Chargers star wide receiver Mike Williams suffered a brutal injury in what was essentially a meaningless game for the Chargers ahead of their NFL Playoffs run. But it looks like he might be able to play in this week’s game against the Jacksonville Jaguars, after all.

According to Chargers head coach Brandon Staley, Mike Williams is expected to be available for Saturday’s game against Jacksonville.

“Brandon Staley said Mike Williams’ MRI showed no fracture or muscle injury in his back. He has a contusion, Staley said. And Staley expects Williams to return to practice at some point this week,” Popper said in a Tweet on Monday afternoon. “Staley said the ‘indication’ given to him this morning is that Williams will be ready to play Saturday vs. Jaguars.”

This is obviously massive news ahead of an important playoff matchup with the Jaguars, and the NFL world had plenty to say about it on Twitter.

“This is good news,” NFL insider Ian Rapoport said on Twitter.

“Good Mike Williams news means I can finally enjoy my Monday,” one Chargers fan said on Twitter.

“Staley resisting the urge to say ‘day-to-day'” another fan joked on Twitter.

“Staley got lucky bro, Istg if mike didn’t played,” one fan said on Twitter.

Obviously, there’s still a long way to go until Saturday’s game and there’s a chance his recovery takes longer than anticipated. But this is good news for Williams initially.
