The NFL trade deadline is approaching rapidly. Big moves featuring notable players have already been made as teams look to load up for a playoff run. Tuesday we learned that there was one player that was almost dealt away for a big package but his team declined the offer.
Carolina Panthers star defensive Brian Burns had been the subject of trade talks this season. Carolina had been asking for a big package for him in return if they were to deal the former Florida State Seminole away. As it turns out, one team did make a big offer to the Panthers. The Los Angeles Rams, known for their aggressiveness in the trade market, made the Panthers the offer. SI.com’s Albert Breer made the revelation on ESPN 1000 Kap and J Hood radio show in Chicago.
.@AlbertBreer just confirmed it was the Los Angeles Rams who offered multiple first-round picks to the Carolina Panthers for Brian Burns.
I can't believe Carolina didn't take that trade.

Should have included the interview. It was with @thekapman on @ESPN1000.

Such a substantial offer from the Rams would have been quite a move-shaker at the trade deadline. Burns, 24, is one of the best young pass rushers in the league. He currently comes “cheap,” but is currently owed north of $16 million next season, per Spotrac.
The offer also asks many questions, considering the Rams’ dearth of first-round picks. At the earliest, should multiple first-rounders have been in, it would’ve been 2024. Should Carolina have accepted? Should LA have offered?
The NFL world reacted to the news of the massive trade offer Tuesday. The reactions were as you expect:
to be fair the Rams don't have a first round pick until approximately 2079 so that's probably part of it

Wow. I mean in what year would these pics be in? 2030? https://t.co/FuBOcdK2so

5. That Rams two 1sts trade offer for Brian Burns (per @AlbertBreer) is something the Panthers have to accept
6. Giants have a major immediate need at ILB, but that's not a premier position where you typically surrender big assets (as Ravens did for Roquan)
7. Watch Bills & RBs

I kinda get it from Carolina's side because you can't just deal everyone and have absolutely zero good players on your squad.
I'm also glad they turned this trade down. https://t.co/iPRPaM8CSm

I can't stop thinking about that reported Brian Burns/Rams trade offer because absolutely nothing about it makes sense from either side.
