The Baltimore Ravens parted ways with veteran tight end Nick Boyle back in January. He apparently didn’t find much of a market in free agency as a tight end, so he is opting to try another position with an AFC North rival.

Boyle was once valued as a solid contributor for the Ravens, signing a three-year $18 million contract with the organization in 2021. He was released before that contract finished out after being reverted to the Ravens practice squad last year.

His next destination in the NFL appears to be in Pittsburgh. Boyle appeared at the Steelers rookie camp on Friday where he worked out for the team as a long-snapper.

It’s pretty uncommon for an eight-year NFL veteran to attend a rookie camp, but the Steelers invited him and Boyle jumped at the opportunity.

Boyle was asked how it felt to attend the camp on Friday, where he detailed that it was a little weird.

“I’m busy at home when I’m not snapping,” Boyle told Brian Batko of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. “This is like a little vacation.”

It’s a very cool story, but apparently Boyle is serious about pursuing a career as long-snapper in Pittsburgh.

“This is just unique and different and it’s exciting,” Boyle added. “But I’m serious. Let’s go do it. It’s not a joke. That’s not what I want it to look like, because it’s not. If this doesn’t work out, I’ll just keep snapping, and if someone else calls, I’ll go there.”

It remains to be seen if he will ultimately be signed by Pittsburgh, but it will certainly be interested to see how his journey as a long-snapper goes.
