When Cleveland Browns legendary running back Jim Brown passed away last week, current Browns running back Nick Chubb made it clear that Brown meant a lot to him, calling it “an honor” to follow in his footsteps with the Browns. And now, it sounds like Chubb wants to honor Brown with his play throughout the rest of his career.

During a press conference this week, Nick Chubb sent a clear message to the fallen Cleveland Browns legend, telling reporters “I’m definitely playing for him from here on out.”

“The most impactful thing is probably just stand for what you believe in. He was a strong man. He stood for a lot of things, and he was himself. I think that’s the biggest thing I take from him. Just always be true to yourself. . . . I’m definitely playing for him from here on out,” Chubb said according to the Cleveland Browns official team website.

Chubb currently ranks fourth in team history with 6,341 rushing yards. If he rushes for over 933 yards this season, he can move into the No. 2 spot in franchise history behind only Brown, who rushed for 12,312 yards in just nine seasons with the Browns. If Chubb were to reach that mark in nine seasons, he would need to nearly double his career rushing output in one fewer season.
