Odell Beckham, Jr. has had better weeks.

The New York Giants wide receiver received the penalty after getting knocked out-of-bounds on a short pass in the second quarter during Monday’s game against the Minnesota Vikings. Beckham immediately got in the face of Vikings cornerback Xavier Rhodes and drew an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty, of which he would later complain that the refs are out to get him.

Beckham has been getting more and more visibly upset during games and even his quarterback is done defending his antics.

When asked about his state of mind on Tuesday by ESPN’s Anita Marks, Beckham said that he’s simply not enjoying the game of football right now.

“Football is my sanctuary,” Beckham told Marks. “It’s where I go to escape. It’s where I’m most happy. I’m not having fun anymore.”

Later on, Giants head coach Bob McAdoo was asked about Beckman’s comments. To which he replied…

“I have no response.”

Sound like if Odell wasn’t having fun before, he’s really not going to have much fun now.

Beckham is certainly going through a crisis of conscious as a football player. He seems to get into some kind of argument or fight every week now and he’s coming off a career-worst game with 23 receiving yards. The two-time Pro Bowler even trotted out the red flag response that every team fears from a disgruntled star wideout.

“What I’m communicating, we’re not doing,” he said. “I’m not getting the opportunities to contribute, and that’s frustrating to me.”

In other words, “throw me the damn ball.” Now that it sounds like his quarterback and his coach aren’t going to bend over backwards to defend him, you have to wonder if this season will ever get fun for Beckham.
