Monday was probably not a great morning to wake up in Atlanta.

As you may have heard, the Falcons blew a 28-3 lead to lose the Super Bowl to the Patriots in overtime Sunday. That was likely traumatic for hundreds of thousands of Atlanta fans, including some youngsters at Greater Atlanta Christian School in Norcross, Georgia.

This photo comes from the school’s Facebook page:

It’s likely that most of those tardy students overslept after staying up late mourning their team’s Super Bowl loss, but few had the guts to just come out and say it. We’ve got the kid who said he “failed to rise up,” a clever allusion to the Falcons’ slogan, as well as the one who bluntly blamed “Falcons depression” and another who made the two-quotes “ditto” sign beneath that explanation.

According to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, the school is home to the children of a Falcons player and an assistant coach and has two cheerleaders on staff as ballet teachers.

It’s hard to blame these kids for having trouble getting out of bed Monday. Hopefully their teachers went easy on them.
