The Green Bay Packers haven’t had much to celebrate in 2022. After an unceremonious exit from the playoffs in January, Green Bay has sputtered to a 6-8 record in the final month of the season. One star player, however, survived a terrible health scare recently. So at least someone can take a little bit of solace in something.
Star offensive lineman David Bakhtiari revealed on Thursday that he recently underwent surgery on his appendix. He went through a scare in which he couldn’t identify why he had abdominal issues. Luckily, the Packers lineman resolved the issue before a potentially dangerous situation developed.
Packers writer Ryan Wood tweeted on Thursday, “Packers LT David Bakhtiari said lower right abdominal started hurting Thursday night before Bears game, but only to touch. No other issues. No fever. Nothin. Next day, checked it out. Scans showed his appendix was couple days from rupturing. He had appendectomy just in time.”

Bakhtiari then commented on his status the rest of the way. He told reporters he was “day to day” according to Wood and that he wants to return this season.
Wood tweeted, “David Bakhtiari isn’t tipping hand on when he might return. He says his status is ‘day to day.’ Bakhtiari is clear he’d like to return this season, though. He says knee situation had stabilized in weeks before appendectomy, and it feels even better now after time away from the field.”

Bakhtiari has played an abbreviated 2022. He joined the team in Week 3 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and hasn’t played a snap since the Packers’ game versus the Philadelphia Eagles.
