The Green Bay Packers made the shocking move to trade with the Dallas Cowboys to acquire star pass rusher Micah Parsons just before the start of the season. Then, Parsons and his new teammates completely dismantled the Detroit Lions in Week One.
It appears that the vibes in Green Bay are so good that they’re extending another star player, even without knowing how he’ll return from a brutal ACL injury, according to one prominent league insider.
“Even in the midst of rehab for his torn ACL, the Packers are rewarding WR Christian Watson with a one-year, $13.25 million contract extension, per his agent Adisa Bakari. The extension ties Watson to Green Bay through the 2026 season, allows him to focus on getting healthy and not having to play this season for a new deal. Watson remains on PUP, and is expected back later this season,” reported ESPN’s senior NFL insider, Adam Schefter.
Fans reacted to the news on social media.
“This is what makes players want to come play for your team. Someone send this to Jerry Jones,” one fan wrote on Twitter.
“Irresponsible. Should have kept Doubs instead. Watson been injured his entire career,” another fan added.
“Smart move by the Packers. Gives Watson security and lets him focus fully on recovery. Big things ahead when he’s back on the field!” one fan added.
It’ll be intersting to see what level Watson is at when he returns to the field.
