The Green Bay Packers entered this weekend coming off a dominant second-half performance against the Pittsburgh Steelers that had them looking like the class of the NFC. This week, Green Bay was penciled in as the favorite over a seemingly average Carolina Panthers team.
However, the Panthers went on to win the game 16-13 in Green Bay, and things got even bleaker from there. A week ago, franchise quarterback Jordan Love connected with star tight end Tucker Kraft on seven receptions for 143 yards and two touchdowns.
Now, Love and the Packers have learned that he’ll have to find a new big target for the remainder of the season, per one prominent league insider.
‘Tests confirmed that Packers TE Tucker Kraft did in fact tear his ACL as feared, per source,” ESPN’s senior NFL insider Adam Schefter reported on Monday.
Fans reacted to the news on social media.
“Even as a Bears fan, this sucks. Kraft embodies what it means to play the Tight End position. Hope he makes a full recovery and gets back to being a dog out there on Sundays,” one fan wrote on Twitter.
“Kraft’s false nine positioning from the Y was opening 12 yards of space for Love’s progressions. Luke Musgrave sits deeper naturally – changes the entire passing structure for Green Bay,” someone else added.
“Damn… Kraft was having a career year & the catalyst for the Packers offense,” one fan added.
It’ll be interesting to see how the offense and Love look without Kraft.
