Patrick Mahomes is the best quarterback in the world. The multi-time NFL MVP made a major revelation on a podcast that suggested that Kansas City might have drafted him with a bit of help.

The Chiefs traded up from 27th to 10th in the 2017 NFL Draft to select Mahomes. They did that in front of a few QB-needy teams at the time and haven’t looked back since. The Chiefs have enjoyed so much prosperity since Mahomes took the field. He helped them win a Super Bowl in 2020 and the team has made the playoffs annually since he was drafted.

And it’s all thanks to one man. Mahomes revealed on the New Heights Show, hosted by teammate Travis Kelce and his brother Jason, that former offensive coordinator Matt Nagy fed Mahomes the plays so that he could “ace” his pre-draft meeting with head coach Andy Reid.

Mahomes said, “I’m going to just give you all the inside scoop. Matt Nagy, who was the offensive coordinator then, he really liked me. So he gave me the plays they were gonna go over the night before.”

The star quarterback said he stayed up all night going over all the plays. He also said that he “obviously crushed the meeting.”

Mahomes wasn’t through. He then talked about his draft process. Other teams had an interest in him and he knew that was true. But, Mahomes went and fed information on that to his future team.

He elaborated, “I kind of gave a little inside info to the Chiefs. I was like, ‘Hey, if y’all let me go anywhere below… at the time I didn’t know about the Saints, but I was like, ‘Y’all let me go 12 or below, I’m gonna get drafted by someone else.”

Mahomes has become one of the most adored athletes in Kansas City history. These nuggets of info only can help that cause.
