Kansas City Chiefs star quarterback Patrick Mahomes is widely regarded as one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL. He and the team are set to take on the Seattle Seahawks on Saturday, where the star quarterback could be in line to break a unique NFL record.

Mahomes completed his final 20 pass attempts last weekend against the Houston Texans. That means he is only six completions away from having the most consecutive pass attempts without an incompletion.

The current record for consecutive NFL completions is held by four different quarterbacks. Phillip Rivers, Nick Foles, Marcus Mariota, and Ryan Tannehill all completed 25 consecutive passes in a game.

Mahomes was made aware that he could potentially break this record. But he seemingly didn’t like his chances of six straight completions on Saturday.

“I did not know that at all, and that doesn’t sound like me,” Mahomes told Michael David Smith of Pro Football Talk after his 20 straight completions against the Texans. “So that’s probably a one-time thing and I’ll just cherish that one.”

It would be a great accomplishment for Mahomes (seen above after that Houston game) if he was able to break this record. But he and the Chiefs are likely far more concerned with just winning against the Seahawks.

Kansas City is currently the No.2 seed in the AFC, behind the Buffalo Bills due to a head-to-head loss against them in Week 6. A No.1 seed in the playoffs would result in a first-round bye in the playoffs, so that is certainly the number one goal for the Chiefs down the stretch of this season.
