Patrick Mahomes probably doesn’t need preseason reps, but he got them anyway in all three of the Kansas City Chiefs’ games this month. And what he’s shown is that, yeah, he’s quite ready for the real games.

Mahomes was in midseason form in the Chiefs’ preseason game against the Minnesota Vikings on Friday night, completing 8-of-9 passes for 117 yards, two touchdowns, and a 158.3 passer rating.

Just five plays into the game, Mahomes and Tyreek Hill connected on a 35-yard bomb for a Chiefs touchdown. Too easy for this dynamic duo:

And on the second touchdown pass, Mahomes showed off the across-the-body throwing ability that he’s made an incredible, frequent part of his game.

He also tossed a sidearm dime on the move to Travis Kelce.

Mahomes and this Chiefs offense are unfair in any setting, and especially for a preseason defense. The 25-year-old quarterback looks well-prepared to make a run for his second NFL MVP award.
