The Kansas City Chiefs are set to face a tough test against the Philadelphia Eagles in Super Bowl 57. If the Chiefs are able to overcome the odds and get the victory, it would put Patrick Mahomes in a conversation with truly elite quarterbacks. This has inevitably led to comparisons to the recently retired legend Tom Brady.

Mahomes got honest about this comparison, saying that being compared to Brady is tough for anyone to live up to.

“It’ll be tough. I mean, seven Super Bowl victories, 10 Super Bowls, there’s a reason that he’s so far ahead of everybody else,” Mahomes told reporters earlier this week in a video shared by NFL on Twitter. “It’s hard to do, but I’ll do my best to chase it. I’ve got to start off with trying to win this one this week.”

Mahomes received his second MVP award earlier this week. A Super Bowl victory would also be the second of his career. As the superstar quarterback stated, this pales in comparison to Brady, who has three MVP awards along with seven Super Bowl championships.

At just 27 years old, Mahomes certainly has more time to build his already impressive resume. He isn’t at Brady’s level just yet, but a win on Sunday would put him in an elite class of quarterbacks. Only twelve quarterbacks have started and won two Super Bowls, and Patrick Mahomes would enter that list with a win.

He will have to overcome an elite Eagles defense to do so. Philadelphia’s defense comes into the matchup with the third most sacks of any team in NFL history.
