The New England Patriots are hoping that new head coach Mike Vrabel can help restore some of the culture that has been badly lacking in the organization since the departures of Bill Belichick and Tom Brady.
It appears that Vrabel, who was a part of the Brady-Belichick dynasty as a player, isn’t afraid to get his hands on to instill that culture, judging from reports from one league insider monitoring New England’s training camp.
“TreVeyon Henderson picked up a blitzer and took him to the ground violently. They started rolling/scrapping. Mike Vrabel physically jumped in to try to break it up. Will Campbell saw what was happening and dove on a defender. Scrum broke out. Vrabel bled,” reported Chris Mason on Twitter.
Fans reacted to the news on social media.
“Man the Browns had Vrabel in the building last year and let him walk. I wish he was the coach of the Browns. I LOVE stuff like this,” one fan wrote on Twitter.
“Remember last year when the eagles came to tow for joint practice and laughed at how bad New England performed in the joint practice? We aren’t bullish enough on this team this year,” someone else added.
“Our COACH is getting involved in tussles??? Oh we’re back,” another fan added.
It’ll be interesting to see if the Pats’ newfound toughness will result in any on-field success.
