The New England Patriots are hoping that the partnership between new head coach Mike Vrabel and young quarterback Drake Maye will be even a fraction as successful as the one between Tom Brady and Bill Belichick.
For his part, Vrabel seems to be instilling a culture and level of accountability that has been missing from the organization in recent years. Unfortunately, he can only be as successful as the players on the field.
Vrabel and Maye recently received some brutal news on the injury front, which will keep one of the most important players for their shared success off the field this season, according to one prominent league insider.
“Sources: #Patriots WR Ja’Lynn Polk will miss the entire 2025 season due to a shoulder injury that requires surgery. The 2024 second-round pick saw multiple specialists, and surgery was determined to be the best course of action — with the goal of being fully healthy for 2026,” reported Jordan Schultz on Thursday.
Fans reacted to the news on social media.
“Was really hoping he could turn around things after last season. Very unfortunate for the 2nd round wideout out of Washington,” one fan wrote on Twitter.
“What a disappointment this dudes been,” someone else added.
“How does this just get discovered now instead of having surgery immediately after last szn? Hard to see a future for Polk in NE, or anywhere else for that matter unfortunately,” another fan added.
It’ll be interesting to see how the Pats replace Polk’s production.
