The New England Patriots have dethroned reigning MVP Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills as the AFC East champions and still have an outside shot of earning the number one overall seed in the AFC if they defeat the Miami Dolphins and the Denver Broncos lose to the Los Angeles Chargers (who will be resting several key players).
The Patriots’ return to dominance this season has been spearheaded by the current MVP favorite, young quarterback Drake Maye, who is flourishing in his second season in the league under head coach Mike Vrabel.
Unfortunately, as great as Maye has been this season, he may be without one of his top weapons for New England’s playoff run. Wide receiver Stefon Diggs has found himself in a bit of trouble due to an alleged altercation with a chef that could result in a suspension, per one of the league’s top insiders.
“The New England Patriots are aware of the accusations that have been made regarding Stefon Diggs. Stefon has informed the organization that he categorically denies the allegations. We support Stefon. We will continue to gather information and will cooperate fully with the appropriate authorities and the NFL as necessary. Out of respect for all parties involved, and given that this is an ongoing legal matter, we will have no further comment at this time,” the Pats said in a statement.
“We are aware of the matter and have been in contact with the club. We have no further comment at this time,” the NFL said in a statement, via ESPN’s Mike Reiss.

Fans reacted to the news on social media.
“This man is dangerous!! It’s wasn’t even an intimate partner dispute this was his CHEF!” one fan wrote on Twitter.
“Arraignment scheduled for Jan 23rd—two days before the AFC Championship. The timing couldn’t be worse for the Patriots. Will he be placed on the Commissioner’s Exempt List before then?” one fan added.
“The NFL always plays it safe with these statements. No further comment is lawyer-speak, not transparency,” someone else added.
It’ll be interesting to see how the situation impacts Maye and the Patriots.
