Owning the fifth overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft, the Seattle Seahawks have numerous routes they could take.

The Seahawks could draft a quarterback (CJ Stroud, Anthony Richardson or Will Levis) considering it may be a while before they have a top 5 selection again. Seattle could also take a gamble on one of the draft’s top prospects, despite some character concerns that have loomed throughout the NFL Draft process.

With that said, there is a draft prospect that Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll “loves,” reports Albert Breer of Sports Illustrated. And it may surprise some people in the NFL world that it’s Georgia’s, Jalen Carter.

“I’ve heard that Pete Carroll loves the Georgia game-wrecker, and that the Seahawks had a good 30 visit with him,” Breer wrote.

Carter is considered to be the most talented prospect in this year’s draft, but his off-the-field concerns make him a polarizing one at that. Carter recently pled no contest and was sentenced to 12 months probation, a $1,000 fine and 80 hours of community service for his role in a fatal automobile accident that claimed the lives of a Georgia football player and staffer.

If any team can afford to take a gamble on Carter, it’s the Seahawks. But Breer does pose an interesting point that Seahawks general manager John Schneider could balk at choosing a player like Carter, considering the team’s experience with a player like Malik McDowell in the past.

It remains to be seen how much that’ll influence the Seahawks’ decision-making come this Thursday.
