Don’t you just love it when we write about shoe politics here at The Comeback? If you’re confused, don’t worry, most of us are. Despite numerous attempts from his equipment and training staff, as well as his players to get him to change his kicks, Pete Carroll is a staunch advocate of the Nike Air Monarch IV’s, or as he calls them: “Air Paternos”.

If this story already didn’t make you feel a bit icky, it certainly will now. Yesterday, Carroll got a public and famous backer for his favorite pair of kicks: Macklemore, who posted a picture of the Monarchs that he was wearing on Snapchat, which made Mr. Carroll very excited.

He also praised Macklemore for not wearing the “Chef Currys”, which are also shoes designed to make old people feel a lot cooler than they are, and yet are just as ugly and bad for that perception.

Feeling good, Carroll decided to conduct a very scientific Twitter poll to see which shoes were better, and what a shock…

This is far and away the lamest story I have ever written for The Comeback, and it will probably never be topped, even by Florida Man.
