Typically, when a team wins the Super Bowl, they are invited to celebrate their triumph with the United States President at the White House. However, it sounds like the Philadelphia Eagles have no plans to visit Donald Trump to celebrate their win over the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl LIX this month.
According to a report from the US Sun, the Philadelphia Eagles have already decided not to attend the White House to visit United States President Donald.
“Philadelphia Eagles plan to snub an invitation to the White House after winning the Super Bowl, The U.S. Sun has learned,” Steve Brenner wrote for The Sun earlier this month.
In fact, the report actually came before the Super Bowl but has caught media attention now. So according to the report, the Eagles had actually decided not to attend the White House even before they won the Super Bowl – a pretty brutal move toward the president.
The Sun cited an anonymous member of the Eagles ownership group, who told the outlet it would be a “massive no” if they won the Super Bowl and were invited to the White House.
“We focus on the game for now, but if we win the Super Bowl, we wouldn’t go to the White House,” a member of the ownership group told The U.S. Sun.
Of course, this would not be the first time that the Eagles declined to attend the White House.
When the Eagles won the Super Bowl back in 2018, during Trump’s first term, Trump initially invited them to the White House to celebrate. However, several Eagles players said they would not attend the visit and meet Trump after his comments about those who knelt in protest of police brutality and racial injustice during the national anthem.
After it became clear that many players were refusing to visit the White House, Trump rescinded his invitation.
It seems like the Eagles have no plans on attending the White House after this year’s win, either.
