The Philadelphia Eagles are looking to repeat as Super Bowl champions after completely dismantling Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl LIX. Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts left the victory with a Super Bowl MVP trophy as well.
However, last year’s success means nothing for the upcoming season, and all teams are starting from square one in the race back to the top. Unfortunately, the road for the Eagles and Hurts just got a lot more perilous, as one of the receivers that both were counting on to contribute in a major way this season will be sidelined for the entire 2025 campaign, per one prominent insider.
“Eagles WR Johnny Wilson will undergo season-ending surgery on his knee and ankle after suffering the injury at practice on Tuesday, NFL sources said,” Eagles reporter Jeff McLane broke on Thursday.
Fans reacted to the news on social media.
“Damn that sucks. He was gonna have a bigger role in this offense. Great blocker. Get well soon and we’ll see ya next season,” one fan wrote on Twitter.
“Damn I had high hopes for him in the red zone this year,” someone else added.
“Knee AND ankle? Yikes, wonder if what happened but sounds like a brutal injury. Hope he recovers well,” another fan added.
The Eagles recently acquired receiver John Metchie III in a trade, which should help to offset the massive loss of Wilson.
