Typically, when a team finishes the regular season with the best record in the NFL and makes it to the Super Bowl, they are seen as one of the teams to beat the following season, especially if they return a lot of talent. But the Philadelphia Eagles don’t necessarily see themselves that way.

While many might see the defending NFC champions as having a target on their back after such a dominant season last year, Philadelphia Eagles linebacker Nakobe Dean revealed this week that the team sees itself as underdogs heading into the 2023 NFL season.

“We’ve got a lot of underdogs on the team, a lot of people who play with a lot of chips on their shoulders, so we’ll never sit back and act like we’re the one with the targets on our backs. . . . We don’t look at it like we’ve got the target on our back. We look at it like we’re the ones out there hunting,” Dean said according to NFL.com.

Whether they’re the hunted or the hunters, the Eagles will undoubtedly enter 2023 hoping to replicate their dominant season. Only this time, they’ll be hoping for a Super Bowl victory instead of having to settle for second place.
