It’s no secret that the Pittsburgh Steelers have not been particularly dominant this season, especially on the offensive side of the ball. But still, the team has a winning record and currently sits at second in the AFC North division – decidedly in postseason contention. And one particularly insane stat highlights just how unprecedented that is.
As ESPN Stats and Info points out, the Pittsburgh Steelers have done something that no other team in NFL history has ever accomplished: have a winning record despite getting out-gained in every game.
“The Steelers are the 34th team in NFL history to be out-gained by their opponent in each of their first 8 games of a season. They are the first to have a winning record through those 8 games. h/t @EliasSports,” ESPN Stats and Info said in a post on X, the social media website that was formerly known as Twitter.

It’s some pretty insane news about the Steelers and it certainly led to a lot of reactions on social media as a result.
This team should be studied for years to come. 😂 #Steelers #NFL https://t.co/a8ZP026dUZ

Just imagine what we could do if we had an offense https://t.co/mQ95kX339i

Mine Tomlin & the Steelers franchise is the only explanation for this https://t.co/bDwOq6K4Yw

When your head coach knows how to win but your offensive coordinator is trash #Steelers https://t.co/7RmWaTcyT4

And yet people really be questioning if Mike Tomlin is a great coach. Truly insane to me https://t.co/d8BtQXUlaV

Obviously, the Steelers would much prefer to get a little more production from its offense so that it wouldn’t have to win games like this, but they’ll surely be happy about their current record, all things considered.
