This week, the New York Jets made a major move, trading away one of their top defensive stars, Quinnen Williams, to the Dallas Cowboys. And while Williams spent his entire NFL career with the Jets up to this point, it sounds like he’s more than ready for a fresh start.

The deal sent Williams to Dallas in exchange for a 2027 first-round pick, a 2026 second-round pick, and defensive tackle Mazi Smith. During his introductory press conference with the Cowboys, Williams didn’t hide his frustration over the Jets’ lack of success in recent years.

“They knew I was frustrated. I think the world knew I was frustrated being there so long and still losing,” Williams said, according to Pro Football Talk.

Since Williams joined the franchise, the Jets have gone just 33-75 — a record that clearly wore on him, especially considering his winning background at Alabama.

“But like I say, any ultra competitor, man, any guy who plays this game to win is going to be frustrated no matter if you win 100 games and lose that one or when I was at Bama, I went 16-1 and lost the national championship, I was frustrated,” Williams said.

Though Williams emphasized that he maintained a strong relationship with the Jets organization and head coach Aaron Glen, his focus now is simply on winning.

“I’m hungry to win,” Williams said. “That’s the main thing. Like I said at the beginning, I’m an ultimate competitor, man. Everything I do is about winning. Everything I do, everything I work. When I wake up, man, I just want to win. That kind of forms my ego of I can do anything the coaches ask me to do if it’s going to get us a win.”

Needless to say, it was pretty brutal for Williams to admit these things about his former team, and it led to a lot of reactions on social media, especially considering he is now with the Cowboys, who haven’t exactly had a ton of success.

“So they traded him to another loser franchise,” one person wrote in a post on X.

“So he went to the cowboys. The choke capital of the football world,” someone else added.

“So he’s telling us that he’s gonna be frustrated again?” someone else pointed out.

“Welcome to the boys, same losing,” another person commented.

“So the frustration will continue,” someone else said.

Now with a new team and a new opportunity, Williams will be looking to turn that hunger into results in Dallas.
