Earlier this offseason, the Las Vegas Raiders traded with the Seattle Seahawks for quarterback Geno Smith and almost immediately inked him to a two-year extension. However, Geno is a veteran on the back half of his career, and the Raiders will need an answer for when he retires.
Apparently, that fact isn’t wasted on the Steelers, and they don’t want to be stuck in quarterback purgatory the way the Pittsburgh Steelers have following the retirement of Ben Roethlisberger.
“Sources: Colorado QB Shedeur Sanders is scheduled to visit the #Raiders early next week. Las Vegas holds the No. 6 pick in the draft. They have been doing work on QBs and have other QB prospects also coming into their building,” reported FOX Sports’ Jordan Schultz.
Fans reacted to the news on social media.
“I don’t get the criticism that Sheduer gets. He’s literally changed every program he’s been to so far in a positive way,” one fan wrote on Twitter.
“I don’t care what anyone says. If Shedeur is there at 6, take him. I watched Minshew all year last season & everyone (complaining) about how we need a QB. If Shedeur slides to 6, you take him,” one fan added.
“I don’t expect Shedeur Sanders to be there at 6 but if he’s there you take him no hesitation. Geno/Brady mentoring him could lock up our QB1 position for the next decade,” someone else wrote.
It’ll be interesting to see if Sanders is available for the Raiders at six and how they proceed if he is.
