Tom Brady may be the winningest quarterback in NFL history with seven Super Bowl titles, six with the New England Patriots and one with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, but that doesn’t mean he doesn’t want more.
Brady is now a part of the ownership group of the Las Vegas Raiders, and he has a strong say in how the franchise operates. Brady had a strong hand in bringing in Pete Carrroll as the organization’s head coach and also in acquiring former Seattle Seahawks quarterback Geno Smith.
Now, Brady has made another shocking move, as the Raiders are doubling down on Smith before he ever takes a single snap for the franchise, according to one prominent league insider.
“QB Geno Smith is signing a two-year, $85.5 million extension that includes $66.5 million in guaranteed money with the Raiders, per source. Smith is now contractually tied to Las Vegas through the 2027 season,” reported ESPN’s Adam Schefter on Thursday.
Fans reacted to the news on social media.
“Crazy they’ll just give that type of money away to anyone these days,” one fan wrote on Twitter.
“good for Geno, especially considering how he was thought to be written off a long while ago. Well deserved!” another fan added.
“2 years younger the Russel Wilson btw. It’s a joke how much he’s making,” wrote someone else.
It’ll be interesting to see how Smith plays for the Silver and Black.
