When Davante Adams was with the Las Vegas Raiders, he came out in support of the team benching quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo after the move was made. The two are once again on the same team, now suiting up for the Los Angeles Rams.
In an appearance on Sedano & Kap, Adams was asked about being reunited with Garoppolo and provided a thoughtful answer, per Pro Football Talk.
“I love Jimmy. It was never a personal thing,” Adams said. “It’s been amazing, we’ve gotten to catch up and get on the same page. Obviously that was just a dark moment in all of our lives. I think all of us were pretty miserable over there. We kind of caught up and laughed about it, and we’ve been making plays since we’ve been here.”
Fans reacted to Adams’ statement on social media.
“I for the life of me will never understand when players leave a good situation/team for more money on a worse team then complain about being in a bad situation. Like you left a solid org to chase the bag. Just cash them checks and live with the decision,” one fan wrote on Twitter.
“He literally demanded to be traded to that team. I like Adams but he’s made poor career choices until signing with the Rams I think that could be a really good landing spot with Stafford,” someone else added.
“There’s a collective underestimation of how much the Raiders could be improved playing under a legitimate coaching staff,” another fan added.
With Matthew Stafford dealing with a pesky back issue, Garoppolo may be the one throwing to Adams on the first Sunday of the season.
