The Los Angeles Rams are 2-1 and looking to stake their claim in an NFC West division that is wide open this season. The Rams are confident that veteran quarterback Matthew Stafford still has enough left in the tank to make one final Super Bowl run before he hangs up the cleats for good.
This season, Stafford’s top targets look a little bit different, with Cooper Kupp joining the Seattle Seahawks. Now, Stafford is slinging the pill to rising star Puka Nacua and veteran Davante Adams.
Unfortunately, one of Stafford’s top weapons may not be available for Sunday’s game against the Indianapolis Colts, according to one prominent league insider, and may be limited even if he’s able to give it a go.
“Rams are listing WR Davante Adams as questionable for Sunday’s game against the Colts due to his hamstring injury,” reported ESPN’s senior NFL insider Adam Schefter on Twitter on Friday.
Schfter then reported on head coach Sean McVay’s response when asked if Adams’ hamstring would affect his snap count.
“I don’t know about that. You might monitor some things, but if I told him that, I think he would say, ‘Nah, I’m not doing that.’ He’s in good spirits. He’s been engaged in the walkthroughs. He’s doing everything that he can to be physically and mentally ready to go and that’s why he’s a total stud. I’m excited about that. We’ll see how the game goes. Ultimately, we have be able to do what we think is best for Davante and for our team. Those things go hand in hand for us. If that changes any of the snap count, that’s not something that we’re expecting, but we’ll see.”
Fans reacted to the brutal update on social media.
“Davante Adams: too stubborn to sit, too good to bench. McVay might need a straitjacket at this point,” one fan wrote on Twitter.
“Mental readiness matters just as much as physical, legends only,” someone else added.
“McVay keeping it smart while letting Adams lead, big respect,” another fan added.
It’ll be interesting to see what Adams’s status is when Sunday arrives.
