Over the past few weeks, speculation has risen that the Los Angeles Rams may be parting ways with longtime head coach Matthew Stafford. But on Friday, the organization decided against that by agreeing to a restructured contract that officially puts all the rumors about his future to rest.
Stafford has of course been incredibly important to the Rams organization, helping lead them to a Super Bowl victory in 2022. More recently, Stafford helped the Rams make it to the postseason this past season, coming away with a win over the Minnesota Vikings in the Wild Card Round before ultimately falling to the eventual Super Bowl champions, the Philadelphia Eagles.
However, at 37 years of age, there are of course questions as to how long Stafford can play at an elite-level, which has led to the rumors that Stafford could be on the move to launch a full-on rebuild in Los Angeles.
Instead, the Rams decided to stick with Stafford for the 2025 season on Friday. According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Stafford and the Rams reached an agreement on a restructured deal in what is the first big domino of the quarterback market around the NFL this offseason.

Clearly, the Rams organization believes in Stafford enough to run it back with him for at least one more season.
Now, it will be organization to make the proper moves to give Stafford the best chance of succeeding in what could be his last year in Los Angeles.
