Former Baltimore Ravens star Terrell Suggs is widely regarded as one of the best defensive players in team history. Second-year linebacker David Ojabo is looking to follow in his footsteps, but it won’t be in Suggs’ old number.
Ojabo was drafted by the Ravens in the second round of the 2022 NFL Draft. He came in with some high expectations, but unfortunately only played two games in his rookie season due to a brutal Achilles injury.
He has yet to prove himself in a Ravens uniform and seemingly has much more to prove to Terrell Suggs. Ojabo revealed in a press conference on Wednesday that tried this offseason to get his college jersey number (No. 55) for the upcoming season.
Ojabo seemingly asked Suggs for the okay to use the number since this was his number while he was a Raven. Unfortunately for him, he was denied the number by both Suggs and Ravens owner Steve Bisciotti.
“Suggs is not letting me man,” said Ojabo. We had a discussion about it. Steve Bisciotti got involved a little bit. That’s above me, he is a legend so I’m going to stick with No. 90.”

It seems like Ojabo didn’t take it personally, as he continued to say that it is more about what you do in your number than what number you are actually wearing.
Ravens OLB David Ojabo said he tried to get his college number No. 55 but Terrell Suggs wouldn’t let him have it. Ojabo said owner Steve Bisciotti even got involved. Ojabo did say it’s not about the number but what you do in that number.

Ravens fans are certainly hoping that he can have a breakout season and potentially earn that jersey number in the eyes of Suggs down the line.
