The Cleveland Browns have not had a very promising start to the season. The Browns are 1-3 after their first four games of the season, and the quarterback play from Joe Flacco has left a lot to be desired.
Browns rookie quarterback Shedeur Sanders made it clear to reporters last week that he believes he can play better than some of the other quarterbacks around the league, and it’s hard to imagine he wasn’t including Flacco in that group.
“I know if you see the quarterback play in the league right now, I know I’m capable of doing better than that,” Sanders said to reporters.
However, one former NFL head coach doesn’t want to hear it from Sanders.
“Something’s missing with this kid. This kid talks and he runs his mouth. Like he said, ‘I can be a starting quarterback’ with his arms crossed like this,” Rex Ryan said, according to Awful Announcing.
“Get your ass in the front row and study and do all that. If I know, the whole league knows. Quit being an embarrassment that way. You’ve got the talent to be the quarterback; you should be. You should be embarrassed that you’re not the quarterback now.”
What’s interesting is that Sanders isn’t even the next man up in Cleveland, as fellow rookie Dillon Gabriel has sat ahead of him on the Browns’ depth chart throughout the offseason and up to this point in the regular season.
If Sanders does end up getting the nod, hopefully his play can backup his words.
