Seahawks cornerback Richard Sherman is never afraid to speak his mind, and that was the same case this weekend when he shared his opinion on Roger Goodell wanting to eject players who get two unsportsmanlike conduct penalties in a game.

Goodell’s wish is coming true, as the NFL is expected to pass the rule this week. The NFL is also expected to let officials know to not be shy about ejecting players. “We will reaffirm that the rulebook does allow us some discretion when it comes to ejection,” Blandino said to TheMMQB.com. “We’ll make sure they understand that they have that power and they shouldn’t shy away when it is necessary.”

Here’s what Sherman had to say, via ESPN:

“I think it’s foolish, but it sounds like something somebody who’s never played the game would say, something they would suggest, because he doesn’t understand, he’s just a face, he’s just a suit. He’s never set foot on the field and understood how you can get a personal foul.”

Sherman added that the reason why the league hasn’t been able to solve the catch rule is because nobody who played the game is making the rules. “Because you’ve got a bunch of suits doing it,” Sherman answered. “You’ve got a bunch of guys who never played. They’ve probably touched a football to hold it out or to shake someone’s hand and take a picture but they’ve never played the game.”

The two unsportsmanlike penalties leading to an ejection appears to be the only big rule change coming this offseason, as the committee is not recommending changes to the catch rule or a reduction to the league’s seemingly long preseason.

Other teams reportedly made suggestions according to the Washington Post, such as the Baltimore Ravens proposing requiring players who are eligible receivers on offense to wear jersey “vests” with “appropriate” numbers.
