Taylor Swift has officially received validation from a member of one of the most influential musical acts of all time.

The Beatles have earned a reputation as one of the most recognizable, important, and influential bands in the history of modern music, and one of their former members recently suggested that Taylor Swift rivals the fame that they enjoyed in the 1960s.

During a recent interview with American Songwriter, legendary drummer Ringo Starr was asked whether or not he felt that she was the “closest thing to Beatlemania for this generation.” And he had no problem agreeing with that.

“I do,” he said. “I think Taylor Swift is great anyway. She’s pulling them in, you know. When we talk about her, I always have to mention that the first time I met her, she was 14. She was at the Grammys with her mother. Then, I saw a photo of her the other day, just yesterday, of her and her mother.”

He wasn’t shy about giving high praise to the pop sensation, but he did point out that The Beatles are still quite popular, too.

“Taylor is the ‘now’ one. We are the ‘still now,’” Starr explained.

Needless to say, it’s pretty big news that Taylor Swift has officially been endorsed by a member of The Beatles, and it led to a lot of reactions on social media.

“A true legend supporting yet another legend. And some people don’t want to call Taylor a legend yet?” one fan wrote on social media.

“If anyone has the power to say she has the impact of Beatlemania, it’s a Beatle. Don’t compare Taylor Swift to anyone, she’s in a league of her own,” another fan added.

“Oh a legend saying this to Taylor,” another fan said.

“He is absolutely correct,” another fan added.

“Taylor swift is the real deal,” another fan said.

“She is indeed a legend,” another fan quipped.

Perhaps Taylor and the living members of The Beatles could collaborate on a project together in the future.
