Robert Woods Tennessee Titans wide receiver Robert Woods (2) takes the field before the game against the Indianapolis Colts at Nissan Stadium Sunday, Oct. 23, 2022, in Nashville, Tenn. Nfl Indianapolis Colts At Tennessee Titans

It’s safe to say that Robert Woods did not have his best year last season as he caught just 53 passes for 527 yards with two touchdowns during his time with the Tennessee Titans, playing all 17 games for the team. But it sounds like he still thinks he can be a dominant receiver in the league.

This week, Robert Woods made it clear that he thinks the drop in production was a result of fewer targets and that he “most definitely” feels like he can be a 1,000-yard receiver again.

“I had my fewest yards and might have just as well had my second-fewest attempts [last year]. I’m able to make the plays and do more with more,” Woods told DJ Bien-Aime of ESPN. “And I think that was the thing when I got to L.A., I saw my catches go from 50 a year to 90, to 100. And obviously, I doubled my yards and doubled the stats.

“It’s just about getting the opportunity to make plays and help contribute to the team. That’s what I’m hoping to do here in Houston, have opportunities to make big plays and be myself and do what I’m capable of doing.”

We’ll have to see if Woods is able to back up that confidence this season with the Houston Texans.
