After adding star quarterback Russell Wilson this offseason, Denver Broncos fans will be undoubtedly excited to see their new quarterback take the field for the first time. However, it looks like they might have to wait a little bit longer.

Broncos head coach Nathaniel Hackett was asked about Wilson’s availability for Saturday’s preseason opener against the Dallas Cowboys in Mile High Stadium. While the first-year head coach didn’t specifically rule Wilson out, it sure sounds like the veteran won’t be making his debut on Saturday.

“No, I don’t think so,” Hackett said when asked if Wilson will play on Saturday, according to ProFootballTalk. “A guy of his caliber that’s been doing it this long. I don’t think it’s as important. You always have to look at it as risk-reward. Of course, you want to go out there and play football all the time. I think that’s why we practice. When you get out there, I’ve had a lot of different experiences throughout my career. The No. 1 most important thing is getting the guys healthy going into the season. That’s all that matters.”

While fans in attendance might not like it, it sounds like they will just have to wait to see Wilson take the field in his new Broncos uniform.
