A newly-acquired Seattle Seahawks star made a rather crazy claim about former quarterback Russell Wilson.
Dre’Mont Jones joined the Seahawks from the Denver Broncos. The Broncos were hoping to keep the blooming star on the defensive line but he elected to play in Seattle instead.
Jones got candid and made a shocking claim in speaking to the media.
“I mean, ****, they should have just traded me from the jump,” Jones told reporters on Monday, according to Gregg Bell of the Tacoma News Tribune. He revealed he was part of the trade but, “Denver said no. Denver didn’t pay me my proper respects, so I’m here because they respected me from the jump.”
The Russell Wilson trade ended well for one team, and it wasn’t the Broncos. Seattle made the postseason after an ambitious and surprising season. Geno Smith shocked the world at quarterback with his best season ever. Their rookies came together and played terrifically.
The same can’t be said for Denver. They opened up with a brutal loss to Seattle and things never quite got right. Their season was marred by confusion, poor performance, a sideline fight on Christmas, and a dismal record.
As it turns out, it could have been even more interesting had the Broncos included Jones in that blockbuster trade.
The NFL world reacted to the crazy news.
“Might be true of all teams, but the Seahawks love those chip-on-the-shoulder players,” one user tweeted.
“Bro thinks he’s Aaron Donald. ‘My proper respects.’ Lol. #Broncos made the right call,” a Broncos writer wrote.
One Chiefs fan knew “the real reason” Jones wanted out, pointing out a tweet he made where Jones said he hated the Chiefs.
And another fan said that “No one wants to be in Denver and honestly can’t blame them.”
